Featured at the CNBC 15th Asia Business Leaders Award 2016, the inaugural SIXCAP Unicorn Award identifies businesses that take on society’s biggest problems by harnessing the power of the crowd, increasing their growth potential in doing so – with the potential to reach USD 1 Billion Valuation or USD 1 Billion turnover, within the next 6 years.
The award ‘levels the playing field’, and recognises that both innovative start-ups and established companies can compete on a singular platform to become ‘unicorns’ of the future - accomplished businesses that induce concrete socio-economic impact in Asia, built upon their ability to harness the power of the crowd. It acknowledges that, indeed, the crowd shapes the future. You shape the future.
CNBC pioneered the annual Asia Business Leaders Awards (ABLA) in 2001 to salute and recognize remarkable business leaders, who through strength, innovation and foresight induce positive changes in an evolving corporate Asia.
This year, the CNBC 15th ABLA 2016 will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia – Southeast Asia’s largest economy. The event begins with the SIXCAP CNBC Exchange; a closed-door event with interactive panel discussions that touch upon current topics of interest for business leaders. Comprising of a select group of prolific business leaders and senior executives, the highly engaging morning debate and discussion is followed by a networking session over drinks, and round up with a GALA dinner in the evening.
The business with the greatest potential of becoming a future unicorn will be awarded the SIXCAP Unicorn Award at the SIXCAP CNBC EXCHANGE, during the CNBC ABLA 2016.
We’ve put together an independent panel of judges with diverse core competencies, stretching across management strategists, esteemed academics, and reputable industry practitioners.
Together with the crowd, their role is to evaluate and identify businesses that have the potential to become future unicorns under a rigorous judging process that takes into consideration both quantitative organization data analysis and crowd endorsement.
Reshaping an existing industry, inventing a new market space that transcends traditional geographical and industry boundaries.
Solving for societal ‘pain points’ or gaps in industry, addressing a higher order purpose, and inducing concrete socio-economic impact in an evolving corporate Asia.
Designing creative business models, ushering in new valuable consumer experiences, and establishing new forms of competitive advantage.
The judging criteria are developed in collaboration with our knowledge and research partners at SIM University, SIM Professional Development, in partnership with the SIXCAP Global Advisory Board.
